It’s not just about stepping into character—it’s about looking the part, too! Behind the scenes at Smash Musical Theatre, our team has been hard at work preparing the costumes that will transform our entire cast into a crew of classic Newsies.
From suspenders and caps to vests, boots, and rolled-up sleeves, these costumes are gritty, period-appropriate, and packed with personality. And yes—even the girls are suiting up like newsboys! Every single performer is stepping into the world of 1899 New York with style.
We love this part of the process. Costumes aren’t just clothes—they help our students feel like they’re really part of the story. When they try on that vest or sling that newsie bag over their shoulder, you can see their posture change, their confidence grow, and their characters start to emerge.
