Where musical theatre fundamentals start to come together
Somewhere between seven and nine, kids stop copying what a performance looks like and start understanding how one is built. STARbrights is designed for exactly that shift.
Over ten weeks, students learn a full musical theatre number from the ground up: the melody, then the harmony underneath it, then the choreography, then the character choices that make it theirs. They work on projecting to the back of a room, holding their own part while someone beside them sings a different one, and hitting a mark without looking at their feet.
It is real training, delivered in a room where nobody is ranked against anybody. Our non-competitive approach means the goal is your child's own progress across ten weeks, not their placement against the kid next to them. The session finishes with an in-studio showcase where families see everything they have built.

“It was amazing… they put on a 25 minute show which exceeded my expectations! They had props, some simple costumes, music, dance routines, and acting. I was amazed at what they had learned and accomplished in such a short period of time. Highly recommend this musical theater!”

Frequently Asked Questions

Each session is 10 weeks. We run three sessions a year, in Fall, Winter and Spring, and students can enroll in one, two or all three.
-
No. Every level welcomes complete beginners alongside kids who've done camps or classes before.
-
Please contact us. If there's space and it's early in the session we'll do our best to fit them in, but the showcase material builds week over week so we recommend starting on week one.
-
Yes, and it is often exactly what a shy four year old needs. Nobody is put on the spot in week one. Most of the first few classes are group games, and by the showcase almost every child has found something they want to show you.
-
All STARBrights classes run at SMASH Performing Arts Studio at #5 3033 King George Blvd in South Surrey.
-
No. Doors open five minutes before class and students must be picked up on time, as other classes run before and after.
